Travelers Palm Seeds

Here are the Travelers Palm Seeds( Ravenala Madagascariensis ). These are a lot of fun to extract from the pods, j/k. They are very nice looking with their blue color. The blue is like a teflon tape wrapped around the seed. I have just put 8 seeds into the incubator yesterday. The seed stalk is about 4 ft. tall. Very tough, almost like a coconut shell. Here are pictures of the seeds. The pod to me looks like a shoe, I thought it was funny!

Just curious, I know this is an old post I am commenting on, but, did you ever get the seeds to grow? My dad brought an open stalk home a few days ago. Looks like the same palm seeds except these have orange fur instead of blue. I just finished putting 12 in a disposable green house thing with the peat pellets so we will see what happens. I was just curious. You can shoot me an email if you have any tips or info about these. Thanks.

travelers palm seeds are blue,
nicolai striletzia is not a travelers palm... the seeds are orange
like the bird of paradise seeds

i have collected by hand all of the bird of paradise seeds or "crane" flower seeds, they are all orange...
whether the flower is white (nicolai)
or yellow
i have not collected the seeds from the purple/red bird of paradise...
(this is the incredibly rare flower) yet i assume these seeds will also be orange
yet the travelers palm seeds are blue

very sad that botanists and nurserys around the world confuse the white bird of paradise with the travelers palm, which is actually the only one of its genus, it is not a striletzia.

very very very interesting.
i use them for sacred ceremony as they are incredibly potent.
here is NO information online about the spiritual significance of this flower, some information is found with regards to the flower essence itself.
yet i hope to make it part of my life work :)
i want to share this information <3
