Today I went to the plant sale at F.I.T. with my buddy Brandan from Another Yard In Fort Pierce. You should check him out, he scored some really cool stuff too! We got there a little late, o.k. really late in terms of scoring the really good stuff. However we did get a few great additions to our collections. I scored my first Flamethrower Palm ( Chambeyronia macrocarpa ), or Watermelon form flamethrower palm. This palm tree is extremely attractive as it has 1 red leaf that shoots out and a very smooth, green crown shaft topping a beautiful ringed trunk. The red soot or Flame does not occur until the Flamethrower Palm is over a year old and can take longer than that. I think that this palm tree is only growing in South Florida and California right now. If you have this tropical palm tree and live anywhere other than these places please let me know. The " Watermelon" Flamethrower Palm is a rare palm making it appeal even more to me. I am very excited about my new addition to my Palm Tree collection. Here are a few pictures of my new Flamethrower! Enjoy!!
