Today I was in the yard and was over by the Stag Horn Project. Click here if you do not know about the Stag Horn Project. I saw 2 lizards that looked like they were mad at each other, they were flaring there lips out getting ready to fight. I ran into the house and grabbed my camera in hopes of catching some action. Indeed I did, and it is pretty good too. As you can see the two lizards are squaring off on the Palm Tree. They begin to fight and it is very interesting as they charge each other and actually bite each other much like a dog fight. I can't imagine that they can hurt each other from biting as I have had lizards on my shoulder and they jumped off to the ground and ran away. That is a high fall and they can't possibly bite harder than that, can they? Well after a few charges and bites we find a winner! The knock out or should we say knock off begins in the 3rd to last picture, you can see the lizard on the right getting ready to charge. Then in the 2nd to last picture you can see the lizard in attack mode hip tossing the other lizard right off the tree. The final picture is of the Cabbage Palm Tree champion.

The lizard fight is so cute hahaha! We have those here up on our wall sometimes :P Nice pictures you took too and your yard looks awesome it seems. We got lots of nice exotic plants here in the Philippines too but I dunno if they can grow in there. But I think Florida has nice climate like Philippines during the Ber (September-December) months.

Keep on planting! Keep on loving the environment! Keep on blogging :)

Yes it was very exciting to capture that little fight. It was difficult with the delay on my camera, I had to anticipate the action which made it more fun!! Thank you very much Mercedes, the Philippines is a very pretty place that I wish to visit one day! Yes we are very warm here in the ber months!!

FYI, in territorial displays, male lizards (in this case probably a species of Anole)flare out their "dewlap" a loose area of skin under the kneck , not their lips =).

Great set of photos and description of the event, thanks for sharing.
