While I was at the Fort Pierce Farmers Market last weekend I picked up my first Carnivorous plants. They are the Sarracenia 'Tarnok' and the Sarracenia X 'Dana's Delight'. They are only 2 out of the 625 species of plants that attract and trap their prey. They are also known as Pitcher Plants because their trapping mechanism is a deep cavity filled with liquid known as a pitfall trap. Some of the insects that they prey on are flies, mosquitoes and spiders. These Carnivorous Plants are very easy to care for. Do not water with tap water, use only rain water or they will die. Plant only in 50% peat moss and 50% sand or perlite. They are also suitable for Bog Gardening. They require full sun and can reach heights 3 feet tall. I can't wait until mine get that big. Here are some pictures of my new Carnivorous Plants.

Happy New Year to everyone!! I couldn't think of a better way to start off the new year other than fishing. I went fishing last night with a few buddies at our secret spot. We went with 4 dozen shrimp a couple fishing poles and an 18 pack of beer. A few short hours later the beer and the bait were both gone. The upside is that we were leaving with 17 beautiful Snapper ( that is the name of the fish ). It was really dark but here is the best picture I have of our sweet little victory.
I hope you enjoyed the picture. See you again next time!
