It has been one and a half years since my last post on my Misi Luki Banana Tree.  If you want to read all  posts on my Misi Luki Banana Tree CLICK HERE.  I aquired this Banana Tree from my buddy Brandan.  We broke off a pup from his and transplanted it into my yard.  It is finally producing Bananas!  Now I have two Banana Trees producing.  This is great, I love to see my hard work pay off.  Here are some pictures of the Misi Luki that I took on 9-27-2009.

This Banana Tree has really jumped up in height.

This is the boot begining to open.

This is another view of the newly forming Banana boot.

I hope you enjoyed this post. See you again next time!!

I planted my Williams Hybrid Banana Tree April 21, 2008 at the height of about 2 feet tall. If you want to read all posts on this Banana Tree CLICK HERE.  Now only a year and a half later I have my first Bananas forming. This is my first out of all my Banana Trees to start producing Bananas.  I am finally starting to see the benefits of all my hard work.   I have two sets of pictures to share with you today.  The first set is from September 3, 2009 and the second set is from September 7, 2009.

These first two pictures were taken 9-3-2009.  The first show of life.

My first toad!!

The following three pictures were taken 9-7-2009.  After only 4 days that toad turned into a rack of Bananas.

I hope you enjoyed this post. See you again next time!!

It's about time for an update on my Dwarf Cavendish Banana Tree ( Musa acuminata). If you would like to read my original post on this Banana Tree please CLICK HERE. I purchased this Dwarf Cavendish Banana Tree last year in February from the internet. I received it as a very tiny pup. I have been growing it for over a year now and finally decided to put it in the ground. Here are some pictures of my Dwarf Cavendish Banana Tree.

These pictures were taken when I recieved the pup in the mail on 2-22-2008.

The rest of these pictures were taken just before and after I planted it in the ground on 6-21-2009.

I figured it was time since it was throwing it's own pup.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures. See you again next time!!

During Tropical Storm Faye my yard took some damage. I was holding off on this post to see exactly what would happen. I think it is time now to reveal a first for me. I have a banana tree along my fence line that was snapped in half by the strong winds. The trunk was still in tact, just folded over. I was sure it was going to be a goner.

I couldn't have been more wrong. My folded over banana tree has turned into a double headed banana tree. Where the fold is in the trunk, a new head has emerged. The process reminds me of something from the movie aliens. I have taken some progression pictures of this two headed banana tree. I have never seen a two headed banana tree before so I don't know what to expect. Please enjoy the pictures.

The Beginning

Head Number Two Emerging

I though It Would Have Died By Now

Still Growing, And The Old Head Is Still Alive

It Is Getting Stout, Shooting A New Leaf

Unbelievable

If You Look Closely, You Can See The Original Head In The Back Still Kicking

I hope you were as amazed as I still am, see you next time.

I am long over due for an update on my Ice Cream Banana Tree ( Musa acuminata ). I purchased this Ice Cream Banana Tree off the Internet back in February. I did a post on Feb. 25th listing pictures of the baby Banana Tree. Click here if you want more information and to compare size. In just 5 short months my Ice Cream Banana Tree has grown about 3 or 4 feet. I finally put the Banana Tree in the ground today. Now it will really take off! You can see my water bottle irrigation project at the base of the Banana Tree. I have used this water bottle irrigation project on all my fruit trees. For more information on water bottle irrigation click here.

Thank you very much for stopping by. Hope to see you again soon!!

I was over at my buddy Brandans house yesterday when we decided it was time to remove the pups from his Misi Luki Banana Tree. He had I think 5 Misi Luki pups and we dug them out and potted them. You can read his post by clicking here and you can see the pictures of the process that we used.

I ended up coming home with 1 of the Misi Luki pups to plant in my yard. The little guy looks down right now but he will be back real soon. The Misi Luki Banana is at it's best when grown in full sun light. There are plenty of reasons why the Misi Luki Banana is of the favorites of Bananas, I might even go as far as to say it ranks #1!! Here are a few of the reasons: The Misi Luki Banana is highly resistant to disease, the major diseases they are susceptible to are Panama Disease and Black Sigatoka ( a leaf spot disease ). The Misi Luki Banana grows on average 10-12 feet tall and is very wind tolerant. The bananas are around 4 inches in length and are packed with a smooth creamy flavor making it an excellent dessert.

Here are a few pictures of my new addition to my Banana collection!!!

The delicious Goldfinger Banana Tree is the last banana tree that I purchased from the Heathcote Botanical Sale that was held this past weekend at the Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Fort Pierce, Fl.

The Goldfinger Banana is one of the tastiest banana's you can eat! As if being tasty wasn't enough, the Goldfinger Banana is also more resistant to wind, cold, and diseases than most other banana's. The Goldfinger Banana Tree can grow up to 14 feet tall.

Here are the pictures of my new Goldfinger Banana Tree!!

The delicious Williams Hybrid Banana!! That is one of the banana tree's that I scored this weekend at the Heathcote Botanical sale that was held this weekend at the Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Fort Pierce, Fl.

As I was searching all of the many great vendors at the Heathcote Botanical sale I wandered into the banana guy. I love banana's very much and have wanted different species for a long time but didn't want to go out and just buy some. So I waited until Heathcote held there sale and I got exactly what I wanted for the price I wanted to pay!

The banana guy had the banana tree's marked at $15.00. I don't think this is a bad price at all, but he only charged me $10.00 when I went to pay! Score!! Now that is a fantastic price, especially since there was a sucker sprouting up next to it!! I had to buy two more banana tree's from him. I bought my mom an Ice Cream Banana, and I bought myself a Gold Finger Banana. I already have an Ice Cream Banana that's why I did not get one of those for myself.

Here are pictures of my new William's Hybrid Banana Tree.

Another great deal from the Heathcote Botanical Sale that was held at the Heathcote Botanical Gardens in Fort Pierce, Fl. this past weekend.

This banana tree is the Burmese Blue Banana. This banana tree is native to Tibet. The bananas are a bluish violet color when ripe and are used for cooking. The blue bananas are about 8 inches long. The tree itself can grow up to 18 feet tall!

I purchased this Burmese Blue Banana from a vendor named Anthony from Northlake Nursery in West Palm Beach, Fl. He has tons of great stuff at really great prices!!

Here are some pictures of my new Burmese Blue Banana Tree!!!

I have also received my Dwarf Cavendish Banana ( Musa acuminata ) tree in the mail. This is also another very tasty banana tree. Full grown this banana tree will probably get about 8 feet. The only negative thing I see with this banana tree is the fact that caution must be taken when handling as skin irritation my occur. Other than that it is delicious, and very hardy to zone 10. My next banana tree will be the thousand fingers banana. I will not get this until later in the year though. For now here are a few pictures of My baby Dwarf Cavendish Banana Tree. Enjoy!!

I have been waiting a very long time to get some banana tree's. Finally my Ice Cream Banana ( Musa acuminata ) came in the mail. The baby banana tree came in at about 9 inches and in a very small pot. I transplanted it into a 3 gallon pot that will be it's home for a while. I am stoked, if you have ever tasted this delicious treat then you understand why, if you have not tasted this banana yet I highly recommend it. Here are a few pictures of the baby Ice Cream Banana Tree ( Musa acuminata ). Enjoy!!
