Ice Cream Banana Update

I am long over due for an update on my Ice Cream Banana Tree ( Musa acuminata ). I purchased this Ice Cream Banana Tree off the Internet back in February. I did a post on Feb. 25th listing pictures of the baby Banana Tree. Click here if you want more information and to compare size. In just 5 short months my Ice Cream Banana Tree has grown about 3 or 4 feet. I finally put the Banana Tree in the ground today. Now it will really take off! You can see my water bottle irrigation project at the base of the Banana Tree. I have used this water bottle irrigation project on all my fruit trees. For more information on water bottle irrigation click here.

Thank you very much for stopping by. Hope to see you again soon!!

looking good - would love to have the space (and soil) here to try a few more unusual nanas

Why is it called Icecream banana tree? Does the bananas from it taste like banana icecream? Us cold climate gardeners do not have a clue about all the tropical plants you grow - but like to read about them on your blog.

It is called Ice Cream Banana because it tastes like vanilla ice cream. I have not yet tasted it yet but I can't wait to try it.

i hope you have as much enjoyment from your banana tree as i do from mine. they grow very quickly---mine are only 3 years old and i have had many harvests. i have 2 varieties---apple banana and goldfinger. i am awaiting the ripening of the goldfinger--it will be the first harvest for the goldfinger. please check out my website www.mysisterdalesgarden.com and go to the photo gallery and then to banana evolution---it is so cool. wait until you get the banana flowers they are magnificent. please also follow my blog www.mysisterdalesgarden.blogspot.com a few days ago i posted my banana harvest. keep in touch.
